Lisa Tuganova
Murtuza Mukhtarov's wife, Lisa Mukhtarova (Tuganova), originally from the Ossetian nobility, was born and raised in Vladikavkaz. Her parents were from the most respected aristocratic lineage.Even though the couple who loved each other, had affectionate, compassionate and respectful feelings towards each other, did not have children and they took care of many children and educated them.Lisa Mukhtarova founded the Charity Society in this building, and the most progressive women of that time became members of this society. She was one of the active members of the charity society "Children's Hospital" organized in 1913 and provided aid to establish a special children's hospital in Baku. Her activities in the fields of education and enlightenment were even greater. Mrs. Mukhtarova, who had no children of her own, established a boarding house in a palace belonging to her wealthy family, where children from poor families were educated. Lisa Mukhtarova, who joined the board of directors of "Murtuza Mukhtarov" joint-stock company, was associated with "Nijat" (Salvation) Baku Muslim Enlightenment Society. The Charity Society headed by him helped Muslim girls from poor families to receive education and carried out great educational work, held many charity meetings and dinners. Funds collected at charity events were spent on the needs of the poor and orphans.
